After decades designing hydraulic plumbing systems on major projects, I started down a different path in 2018. Every year, firms spend enormous amounts of time manually counting Drainage Fixture Units, Water Supply Loading Units, and Stormwater flow rates that end up on a spreadsheet, one static result at a time.
When I discovered Revit's Plumbing Connectors could help with this, I also found the catch: Revit doesn't stop you from configuring a connector wrong, and it doesn't do the flow accumulation and sizing math for you either. WCT-PlumbCheck and WCT-PlumbFlow are the Revit add-ins I've built to close that gap — along with reference implementations to help you learn the concepts and get more out of your Revit plumbing models, built against AS3500 the way a practising hydraulic engineer would recognise.
I'm sharing what I've learned along the way, to help other engineers, drafters and BIM specialists overcome many of these problems and steer clear of the frustrations that can inevitably occur.

Connector quality control for Revit plumbing families. Validates system type, flow direction, loading units, diameter, and category against AS3500 requirements. Covers sanitary DWV, stormwater, and water supply — hot and cold.
Stormwater and water supply network traversal. Accumulates flow from rain water outlets and fixture loading units through the Revit MEP network, labels junction nodes with flow and preliminary AS3500.3 pipe sizing suggestions for final engineering assessment.
